Blue Printing

Service management is one of my subject which i take this semester. A few weeks ago i learned about Blue Printing. What is blue printing?

Christopher Lovelock said :
First, you need to identify all the key activities involved in creating and delivering the service in question and then specify the linkages between these activities. Initially, it's best to keep activities relatively aggregated in order to define the big picture. You can refine by drilling down to obtain a higher level of detail.

So, according to Lovelock, service blueprint is clarify interaction between :
  • Customer interactions
  • Employee roles
  • Operational Processes
  • Information Technology
IMHO, Blueprinting is a BUSINESS PROCESS ON PAPER

So, how do we go about designing a business process on paper?
  1. Start out by describing the high level activities in your business
  2. Once a high level design is agreed upon, drill down to add details that are consistent with the design
  3. Continue drilling down to the specific activities and tasks that people in the organization will perform, to ensure that day-in, day-out activities are congruent with the high level design. At any stage there may be several iterations before agreement.
When you’re done, you’ll have a paper representation (blueprint) of what your business will be, which you can then use to:
• Make changes to existing policies and procedures
• Select new software and/or make changes to existing systems
• Develop education and training materials
• Design jobs and compensation schemes that support the process
• Develop measurements and key performance indicators (KPIs)

This is an example of Blue Printing of Dealer Mazda, Samarinda (oh, I got A for this assignment! )

first for everything!!

you know,, there is a first for everything. So this is the first time i actually write for a blog. Well, actually i had a previous blog before this -HolyHarmony-. It called -TheSoulofHarmony-. Kinda Alay, wasn't it? Haha. That ugly jembuly cupuly bontoly (err whatever) filled with i don't know. silly things. So, i will start write with this new blog and i hope i never stop!

I decided to fill this blog with 80% of English (although I'm not good in English and i have BIG problem with my grammer, *my grammer is SUCKS!*). I hope with a lot of writing in English, one day I will be proficient in English.
